Press conference in Lokve

The conference was held to mark the launch of major initiatives to enhance energy efficiency at the national level (programs of the Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency Fund) and in consequence of an increase in investments in projects of energy production from wood. There was also discussion of the growth of consumption of wood pellets in the domestic market and the countries of the region and energy audits in wood processing companies in the highlands within ERASME, a European project financed by the Intelligent Energy Europe program were announced.

Speakers at the conference were representatives of the Croatian Wood Cluster, Spacva Inc. and the Croatian Association of Pellet, Briquette and Wood Biomass Producers.

The conference was held in consequence of increased investments in projects of energy production from wood. There was also discussion about development projects under the EU program Intelligent Energy Europe and Horizon 2020. There was a presentation of the theme of the “Carbon Neutral” impact on the environment, which is insufficiently emphasized in the wood processing industry. There will be many development projects on the  neutralization (offset) of greenhouse gas emissions and actually the forest-based industries in the Republic of Croatia can make a major contribution to European goals promoted by the Green economy.
