Croatian Wood Cluster Participated at the Conference in Serbia Related to Wood Industry and Forestry

Representatives of the Croatian Wood Cluster participated at the first conference “The Wood Industry and Forestry of Serbia”, which was held on 7^th and 8^th April 2016 in Vrnjacka Banja, organized by the Faculty of Forestry University of Belgrade. Faculty of Forestry hereby took a proactive role in the forest and wood based sector in Serbia, therefore scientific approach and research methods were dominant in the choice of topics. Besides presentations of academic background, 200 participants could hear the views of relevant wood processing companies and other sector stakeholders. Detailed business, sales and distribution models of region’s forestry companies were presented and quality cross-section of raw materials market was made. A number of development issues remained open, for example, chipping of logs, better application of European standards and the issue of short rotation crops, which is a good basis for a future conference edition.
