Sherif installed 16 new drying chambers in their production facility in Glina, so they now have a total of 45 chambers with a gross capacity of 5,200 m3. 7th Cogress of the Sawmill Industry of the Southeast Europe will take place in Slavonski Brod (Croatia) on November 9th, 2016. The Congress will gather representatives of the sawmill industry and forestry, timber traders and technology suppliers from Croatia and the SEE region as well as representatives of state administration, local government units, trade unions and the media.

Following the successful cooperation with the Croatian Wood Cluster, a joint study visit to Austria is undertaken, during which numerous meetings are pointed and quality project ideas exchange is expected, with Department of Forestry of the Styrian Chamber of Agriculture, the Austrian State Forests, Forestry Association, Styrian Holzcluster and one of the largest Austrian forest owners and wood processors, Mayr Melnhof.

Croatian MEP Marijana Petir, Marijan Kavran, director of the Croatian Wood Cluster and professor Ivica Tikvić, Professor at the Faculty of Forestry, University of Zagreb were speakers at the press conference held yesterday on September 19 at the Westin Hotel in Zagreb. Main topics were the model of cascading use of wood adopted in July by the European Commission, the need for greater evaluation of Croatian forests in the latest EU climate policy package and the occurrence of bark beetles that endangers almost 30% of the forests in Gorski Kotar.

The press conference in the presence of Marijana Petir, MEP, Marijan Kavran, director of the Croatian Wood Cluster and Ivica Tikvić, professor at the Faculty of Forestry will be held  on Monday, September 19th, at 11 am in the Westin Hotel. In the introduction Croatian MEP Marijana Petir will present her standpoints regarding better evaluation of the forests in Croatia in relation to European policies to mitigate climate changes.

Representatives of the Croatian Wood Cluster participated at the first conference “The Wood Industry and Forestry of Serbia”, which was held on 7^th and 8^th April 2016 in Vrnjacka Banja, organized by the Faculty of Forestry University of Belgrade.

Croatian Wood Cluster organized the 4th Regional Conference of Private Forest Owners of South Eastern Europe, which was held in Bjelovar on April 1st, as part of the 19th International Spring Bjelovar Fair. The conference was opened by the Minister of Agriculture, professor Davor Romic, PhD, and the opening ceremony was attended by a range of distinguished guests, including deputy minister Ivica Francetic, Bjelovar County Prefect Damir Bajs, President of the Parliamentary Committee on Agriculture Branko Hrg, deputy mayor of Bjelovar Jasna Visnjevic, Ambassador of the Republic of Macedonia to the Republic of Croatia, Daniela Karagjozoska, envoy of the Croatian Parliament President Franjo Lucic and many others.
